OFF-GRID SOLAR ENERGY SOLUTIONS

Solarmatrix is expanding its reach into international off-grid solar markets and joins the Sustainable Energy Industry Association of the Pacific Islands (SEIAPI). Solar PV systems offer an emission free and safe energy supply with far better economics than fossil fuel based generators such as diesel gensets. In particular small islands are threatened in their existence by the impact of climate change and are embracing new technologies to reduce Green House Gas emissions and increase energy efficiency. ...

SCHOTT SOLAR NEW EFFICIENCY WORLD RECORD

SCHOTT Solar set a new world record in monocrystalline screen-printed solar cells efficiency. The new record is a stunning 20.2 percent cell efficiency, confirmed independently by the Fraunhofer Institute. Furthermore, SCHOTT Solar is has developed a new technique for high-performance wafers called "Quasimono". These cells can be produced at considerably less costs and at the same time achieve a record efficiency of 19.9 percent confirmed by the Fraunhofer Institute in November 2011. The new SCHOTT PERFORM MONO solar module will be launched in 2012 incorporating this exciting cell technolog...

SENATE PASSES CARBON TAX

Today, the Gillard government declared victory for a "historic economic reform" as the senate passed the carbon tax. A $23 a tonne carbon tax will now be paid by about 500 high-emitting companies from next July, with about half the revenue to be returned to households in the form of tax cuts and increases in pensions and family payments, to compensate them as electricity generators pass through the cost of the new tax. Another $9.2 billion over the first four years of the carbon pricing scheme will be paid to high-emitting industries with overseas competitors not subject to a tax. They will ...
